About The Event
The Casco Bay Tummlers have been performing klezmer music in Maine and beyond for over 25 years. They present exciting programs of Eastern European Jewish party music, improvisational Balkan tunes, and Yiddish folk songs - in concert, at celebrations and in educational settings. With elements of swing, gypsy music, haunting holocaust melodies, and prize-winning original compositions, the Tummlers have a unique sound. They also have an engaging stage presence that features all members of the band: Carl Dimow, flutes and guitar; Nancy 3. Hoffman, accordion and vocals; Steve Gruverman, clarinet and saxophone; John Clark, bass; and Peter McLaughlin, percussion. The Tummlers get around—they’ve played their lively and poignant music all over Maine as well as in Lithuania, Germany, Slovenia and Italy. They’ve also released three recordings, performed for a world premiere production at the Portland Stage Company and provided the soundtrack for the Belgian art comedy, “Mon noM”.
